The two Ministers reviewed the Chinese investments in Egypt's ICT sector and means of enhancing them over the coming period, as many Chinese ICT companies have been operating in Egypt.

Meanwhile, both Ministers witnessed the signing ceremony of the cooperation protocol between the Chinese company ZTE and the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI).

ZTE will set up an advanced training and systems research development center at the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) premises in the Smart Village.

The center will be equipped with the state-of-the-art technical devices produced by ZTE, covering the fields of telecommunications, broadband networks and LTE technology. ZTE will also offer training for the NTI engineers and teaching staff at its headquarters in China.

The NTI Director Dr. Ahmed El-Sherbini said that the center is expected to be one of the latest for telecommunications in Egypt and the Middle East when it initiates its activities; one year after the agreement is signed.

Dr. El-Sherbini added that the NTI would develop and modernize its training and research systems, which will augment its role as a center of excellence in communications in Egypt and the Middle East.

The new protocol goes in line with the cooperation between NTI and ZTE which took off six years ago. It started with establishing the first integrated laboratory for CDMA technology in the region at the NTI headquarters.
