Egypt Participates in AICTO Fifth Council Meeting.

Egypt participated in the Arab ICT Organization (AICTO) fifth council meeting held in Gamart, Tunisia during the period from 1st to 2nd of July, 2009.

During the meeting AICTO Secretary General Khadija El Gheryani reviewed a report on the organization's activities. The report covered the areas of projects, seminars, partnership, joint Arab activities, the work plan project for 2009 and task forces.

The council also discussed the suggested internal system, the budget for 2009, the selection of an internal auditor and the date and place of the fifth round of the general assembly meeting.

The council praised the study AICTO had conducted about moving from IPv4 to IPv6, calling on the general assembly to present it before the next meeting of Arab Telecommunications and Information Council of Ministers and the coming meeting of Arab Permanent ICT Committee.

AICTO is a specialized entity affiliated to Arab League. The current AICTO council is composed of Lebanon (head) represented by Dr. Abdelmoneim Youssif, Egypt (deputy) represented by Dr. Ahmed El Sherbini and the membership of Syria, Palestine, Oman, Libya, Yemen, Morocco and Tunisia.
