Date: January 1st, 2009

Cisco Networking Academy granted National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) the Best Regional Academy Award for 2009.

The award was announced during the Cisco Networking Academy Conference for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) held at the NTI headquarters in the Smart Village.

Dr. Ahmed El-Sherbini, Deputy to Minister of Communications and IT for International Cooperation and NTI Director, pointed out that the award acknowledged the institute for its role as a regional CISCO Networking Academy in supervising and monitoring its affiliated 45 academies.

Dr. El-Sherbini added that the award also emphasized the NTI's part in putting into force the initiative signed between Cisco Systems and Egypt's Supreme Council of Universities on establishing local academies and Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (CCNA) labs at all computer science and engineering faculties in Egypt.

NTI has trained so far 60 staff members from 30 colleges on teaching the tracks of Cisco Academies.

In 2006, NTI was accredited as a Cisco Academy Training Center (CATC) for the MENA region. NTI offers training, monitoring and supervision services for 230 local and 30 regional academies in Egypt, Libya, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Emirates, Yemen, Bahrain, Oman, Palestine, Morocco and Algeria.
