Minister Kamel to Witness Graduation Ceremony of "ICT Experts in Africa" Training Program.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel is witnessing on 13th of May the graduation ceremony of the "ICT Experts in Africa" training program; the graduation ceremony is held in Cairo parallel to ITU Telecom Africa 2008.

The training program, held from 29th of April to 15th of May, aims at building-up the trainees’ potentials and providing them with technical and theoretical knowledge and skills that will help develop their technical and professional capabilities.

Twenty-four trainees from 19 African countries attended the training sessions which tackled switching technologies, GSM, VoIP and other ICT-related fields. The trainees also visited key Egyptian telecom facilities, institutes, the Smart Village and ICT companies.

The two week program is a joint collaboration between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) and the National Telecommunications Institute (NTI).

Last year’s program was held in April 2007 where 22 engineers from 14 African countries were trained on the latest developments in telecom circuits technology.
