Minister Kamel Witnesses MoU Signing between NTI and HP.

Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology witnessed today the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between National Telecommunications Institute (NTI) and the international Hewlett Packard (HP) to establish a professional IT Lab with a total cost of 1.5 million Egyptian pounds.

NTI Director Dr. Ahmed El-Sherbini stated HP granted Egypt a million pounds of the lab’s total cost as well as supplying it with networks, training curricula in addition to the facilitating the training of two NTI engineers at HP labs in France.

NTI in turn will supplement the lab with computers, internal network and internet as well as providing cadres of distinguished trainers familiar with the latest IT technology.

The professional lab is the first of its kind to be established in Egypt and the Middle East as a collaborative effort between the Egyptian government and “HP Procurve”.

The MoU inking marks as a continuation to the bilateral cooperation between the two entities as “HP Open View” had similarly established a Management Systems computers network lab two years ago and undertook the training of 50 government employed technicians and another 50 newly graduate Engineers.

Agreement was signed by NTI director Dr. Ahmed El-Sherbini and Eng, Ahmed Samy, HP Egypt Managing Director and Eng. Ahmed Gala, HP Procurve Systems Development Director.
